Best Place to Buy a Mattress

I am doing a different kind of post this week. I thought this would be fun and help many out there looking for the best place to buy a mattress and don’t know exactly where to go or start their research. Anyone is welcome to participate here. Obviously we will be a bit bias towards our own stores but this is an open post. Feel free to share with us your favorite place to shop for a new mattress set. There are so many factors that go into deciding what, when, and where to buy a mattress. It’s not quite as simple as just doing an online search for “best mattress store near me”. There are several factors which would cause one bedding store to be a better option than another. Below we will list a few basic tenets we believe are vital for a company to really hold the title “Best”.

  • Must be BBB Accredited with an A+ rating. (You should accept nothing less from a retail store looking to earn your business).
  •  Must have more than just a couple of brands to choose from. (you want options. Go for a mattress gallery that has several brands 4,5,or even 6 different brands. options = power.
  • Shop local if possible. Preferably family owned and operated. (Big Box stores often lack the customer service that a local mattress company can provide. Plus you are supporting your local economy rather than a big corporation.
  • Must have their own delivery trucks and personnel. (one of the biggest complaints about stores is that the delivery process was horrible. Big Box companies use contracted delivery. Local mattress stores often hire their own delivery team to represent the company in a positive way.
  • Must have well trained bedding experts. (You want a professional to properly fit you for a mattress. We spend so much time sleeping and it is such a vital part of our health you deserve someone well trained to assist.
  • Must have good online reviews. ( You can tell real quick if a mattress store is up to par by the online rating they have).                          We hope this list has been of value to you and your search for a great place to buy a mattress. We hope once you have found the right bedding company for you that you will share your experience. We will only approve positive comments. We want this to be an environment for people to get what they want, not what they don’t. Be sure to rate this post in the STAR rating area above to let us know what you thought. We will allow any participants including little birdy admins.

I couldn’t buy a mattress online without trying it first. I went to several mattress stores and found a discount mattress store that had great factory direct deals and a massive gallery of mattresses to choose from. We tried Tempur-pedic, Sealy, Stearns and Foster, and even some Resort grade mattresses. We decided to to buy a mattress that is made for the Marriott Hotels because we sleep in Marriott often and really love the beds.

We originally thought about buying a mattress in a box online but never pulled the trigger. It just didn’t feel right to buy before we tried. I like to have full assurance that I am getting something of high quality. We decided to hit up all of the local mattress gallery stores to test drive a few new mattresses. We tried Tempur-Pedic, Sealy Posturepedic, Beautyrest, and Stearns & Foster before deciding to buy out new Tempur-pedic Pro Adapt Medium. I am so glad we spent a little extra time shopping in an actual store instead of being lazy and shopping online.

We decided to shop local instead of online. I’d rather give my money to a small business rather than a big mattress company that is just going to squash a mattress in a box and send it to us. I like the idea of testing out several options and having someone to answer questions about them before making a purchase. I just don’t think a mattress is a one size fits all. I am currently researching mattress brands that use natural materials instead of a bunch of chemicals. I have found some local mattress galleries that have a variety of non toxic options. I’ll do a review after I make my purchase to let you guys know what we found.
